    222401 - Karl J Drews Camp All Star

    This summer program is for young adults ages 12-21 (in school), with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. This camp is designed for the physically active camper who is able to receive and follow directions. Activities will be tied to a theme each week and will include indoor and outdoor activities, games, adventures, swimming, field trips and more. Campers are asked to bring a bagged lunch, drinks, snacks, bathing suit, sunscreen, a towel for swimming and any personal care items they may need each day.

    This summer program was developed for children ages 6-12 with varying exceptionalities. This program provides additional support and assistance necessary to ensure an enjoyable summer camp experience for all campers. Camp activities include arts and crafts, sports, organized games, quiet play, educational speakers, water activities, outdoor activities and occasional field trips. Campers are asked to bring bagged lunch, drinks, snacks, bathing suit, sunscreen, a towel for swimming and any personal care items that they may need each day.

The final week of camp will involve a variety of components from the various themes. Parents and their child should review the teen theme weeks, traditional camps, locations and choose the right camp for the right weeks based on their child's individual needs.

    342201 - Pine Island Pool-Infant/Toddle

    Designed for children 6 months to 3 years old. This course requires that an adult accompany the child in the water. Instructor teaches the parent how to help the child adjust to the water. The main goal is for the child to become comfortable in the water. They are also taught the basic water adjustment and safety skills such as: bubble blowing; floating on the back with support; rolling from front to back; holding onto the wall; climbing in and out of the pool. This course begins the process of weaning the child from the parent to the instructors. This course DOES NOT teach the child to be an accomplished swimmer or to survive in the water. Skills are taught through fun activities and positive reinforcement for accomplishments. Child is REQUIRED to wear training pants or swim suits with tight fitting legs. (No Diapers please)
    Program skills are completed in four 30-minute classes. After completion of class you will receive a pool pass for 5 free admissions so that you can work with your child further.

    Children ages 3 to 4 who are comfortable in the water and ready to begin swimming on without assistance. Before signing up for this class permission must be granted by facility staff. Skills needed are; float on front and back with minimal support, jump into water to an adult, pushing off wall to an adult, bubble blowing, in chest deep water comfortable going underwater to retreive objects off of the bottom. Skills learned/refined; floating on stomach and back without support, rhythmic breathing (bobbing), jumping into water swimming on stomach for eight feet, retrieve object off bottom of pool in water over their head with minimal assistance, basic water safety skills. Course skills are taught in eight 30-minute classes.

    Skills needed are: float on stomach and back with out support; Push off wall or jump into water and swim 8 feet, comfortable performing rhythmic breathing (bobbing) five times, retrieve objects off of the bottom of the pool in water over their heads without assistance. Skills learned/refined: Swimming front crawl with arms coming out of the water, breathing to the front or side, swimming backstroke with arms coming out of the water, continue to develop swimming endurance, begin to learn the elementary backstroke. Course skills are taught in eight 30-minute classes.
