    For children ages 5 and older who want to further develop their strokes and endurance levels.
    Skills needed are: ability to swim one length of the pool front crawl and one length back stroke; know the basic skills of the elementary backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, and be able to tread water for one minute.
    Skills be to learn/refined are sidestroke; further development of coordination, endurance of the breaststroke, butterfly, elementary backstroke, front crawl and backstroke and water safety skills.
    Course skills taught in eight 45-minute classes.

    342301 - Pine Island Pool Jr. Lifeguard

    Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a lifeguard? What are the skills, knowledge and attributes of a professional lifeguard? The Junior Lifeguard Program explores what it takes to be a lifeguard. The camp covers water safety, rescues, CPR/First Aid, role of a lifeguard, physical fitness training, stroke developement and other aquatic related topics. Many of the skills learn/developed helps put the Junior Lifeguard in good position for future lifeguard employment. Students must have the ability to swim 50 yards without resting, recover a 10lb weight from 6 feet of water, and tread water for one minute without hands.
    Please note: The Junior Lifeguard Program is the same curriculum for all sessions at all pools. There is a limit of one session per student per summer. Participants must bring their lunch, water, sunscreen and proper swimming attire.

    348108 - Balance and Flexibilty

    This class is geared to those who suffer from bad knees, hips or backs. Most of the exercises will be performed in a chair with light weights.
    Yes, you can still work up a sweat and get fit!
    Let's get the heart pumping and the blood flowing.
    This class is suitable for all adults regardless of physical abilities. Bring a water bottle; wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.
    $20 for four classes or drop-in for $6 per class
    A facility membership is required to participate in this program.
    A water exercise class that uses slow and controlled movements to improve balance and maintain joint and muscle flexibility. This class is intended to increase range of motion to help perform everyday activities with relative ease.

    512101 - CRP - Guided Walk

    Join park staff on a stroll through natural plant communities. See firsthand the plants and animals that make southwest Florida so unique. Participants should be able to walk approximately one and a half miles. Dress appropriately and bring a water bottle. We will meet at the main entrance of the park at 18500 North River Road. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This program is free with paid parking.

    Registration ahead is required. (24 hours ahead)
    Minimum of 6 participants.

    Please, call for more information at 239-693-2690. We have from 2 hours tours, 5/6 hours tours, and night tours (2 hours).
    We provided the kayaks (doubles), paddles, life jackets, whistles.
    Please, bring your water bottle, sunglasses, sun lotion, and all your gears you may need for it. Flash lights/head lights for night tours.
    Long tours - you need to bring lunch/snacks/water.

    523101 - Lakes Reg Park Guided Walk

    Tours Meet at SHelter A-7. Arrive a few minutes after 8 a.m. Tour starts at 8:30 a.m. after a brief intro and signing of waivers. Tours last 1-2 hours. The parking fee is $1.00 an hour or $5.00 for the whole day. You can also register on www.birdpatrol.org. Wear comfortable shoes and dress to be outside. Bring binoculars.

    552101 - Slough Guided Walk

    Guided boardwalk tours led by volunteer naturalists. Walks are limited to the first 20 people who check in. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. at the trail entrance and closes at 9:30 a.m. (registration is not taken over the phone or in the Interpretive Center). Walks begin as soon as each guide has 10 participants (or at 9:30 a.m. at the latest). Wear comfortable shoes, dress to be outside and bring binoculars. Parking fee of $1 per hour per vehicle. No groups of six or more allowed. To schedule group tours, call 239-533-7555. NO GUIDED WALK ON CHRISTMAS DAY.

All entries must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2018 at 3 p.m. Entry fee is $10 for up to three photos. Awards will be presented at a reception held in February.     590101 - Prairie Pines Guided Walk

    You've driven past, now stop to explore the wonders of this 2650 acre preserve. Conservation 20/20 volunteers will introduce participants to the plants and animals that call the Preserve home. The trail is a half mile long, level grade and ADA compliant. No special attire required, although closed toed shoes are always a good idea.
    No fee OR registration required. Meet in the parking lot.
